A Season To Sparkle

December 6, 2017

Everything shines a little brighter this time of year. The trees are twinkling, the snow is glistening, and the champagne is sparkling.

And as for us, well, we’re ready to join in.

In the spirit of the season, we put together 10 megawatt looks for all your party-season needs. Sequins, gemstones, rose gold, rainbows—we’re talking everything short of tinsel here.

As December kicks off, Anthropologie stylist Christy Michal shares her secrets to shimmering all month long.

“I love the way a cozy sweater dresses down this skirt. But there’s a lot going on here—there’s tulle, sequins, a cableknit, just tons of texture. Keeping everything in a similar palette is a great way to tie unexpected elements together and make a look cohesive.”

“This is a really dressy, really sparkly skirt, so it’s easy to think you would only wear it once or twice a year. But here we balanced it with a graphic tee and jean jacket. All of the sudden, it works during the afternoon.”

“This skirt is actually part of a set. When worn with the matching tank, it’s a very specific, very occasion look. But once you break it up, it’s just a black skirt—and black skirts go with everything.”

“This is the set’s matching top. It has a ton of possibilities—you could pair it with pretty much any party skirt—but we wanted to have a little more fun with it. I like it over a basic white buttondown for an unexpected layer.”

“My challenge here was, ‘how do I make rainbow sequins work during the day?’ The tee is actually a pajama top—a very wise pajama top, I have to say—and dresses it way down. Then, to ground all the color, I added this great long-line blazer. You’ll never go wrong with a black blazer.”
