Make It in a Mug: The Pear Moscow Mule

November 7, 2014

Is it just us, or is everything just a little bit better when served in a mug? From soup to nuts, from cocoa to cocktails, we’re snubbing the snifter, boycotting the bowl and mugging it out this fall. First up on our list: a cocktail, but of course. In keeping with tradition, this fizzed-and-fruity take on the classic Moscow Mule is served up in a shiny copper cup, its signature vessel since debuting as Old Hollywood arm candy. Ready for a close-up? Oh, we’d say so.

For the rosemary-infused vodka
1 cup vodka
3 sprigs of rosemary

For the cocktail
2 ounces rosemary-infused vodka
Juice from ½ lime
Sparkling pear juice
Ginger beer
Dash of bitters

HOW TO MAKE ITTo make the rosemary-infused vodka, combine the vodka and rosemary sprigs in a tightly sealed jar; allow to sit overnight, then strain. To prepare the cocktail, fill a mug with ice, then add two ounces of the vodka and the lime juice. Fill the mug about three-quarters of the way with the sparkling pear juice, then top off with a splash of ginger beer and a dash of bitters. Stir to combine and serve.
