It’s 5-O’Clock Somewhere: The Summer Sparkler

As summer’s Holiday in Chief, July Fourth calls for a toast of the bubbly variety. In honor of long weekends and longer shadows, of star-spangled banners and red-checkered blankets, we’re sipping sunny with this fruity twist on the classic Tom Collins. A cinch to shake up, it’s a party-friendly, fizzy-fine way to perk up picnics and finish off fireworks.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED2 oz. gin
1 oz. lemon juice
1 tsp. super-fine sugar
3 oz. pear soda


HOW TO MAKE IT
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine gin, lemon juice and sugar. Shake vigorously and strain into ice-filled glasses (we went with our cheers-worthy Champagne Bubbles Highball Glasses). Top with pear soda and serve.
