Like Mother, Like Daughter, With Love

May 6, 2014

Has there ever, in the history of mothers and daughters, been a mother and daughter who didn’t wish they could just ever-so-slightly tweak the other’s clothes, makeup or hair? In honor of Mother’s Day, we let one mother and daughter pair, our web stylist Megan (with help from her sister Sarah) and her cute-as-a-button mother Mary, style each other just the way they’d like.

Megan: My mom is super cute and sweet. We have similar mannerisms and the same
sense of humor. She’s way more patient than I am.

When we were growing up,
she always wanted my sister Sarah and me to dress alike¦

and we always wanted her to take off her pants¦

‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ and wear a dress.‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ ‚ And maybe a fun lip color!

For Mother’s Day, I would love for my mom to not do
anything for just one day! To just relax.

Mary: Megan is loving, kind and witty and as intelligent as she is silly! She has always been a beautiful challenge and a constant source of joy.

When it comes to beauty, she knows exactly what to do. Megan’s a natural beauty, I would never suggest she do anything.

But the one thing I would LOVE for her to do is get her hair professionally styled!

It was always obvious to me that Megan would do something in the creative arts field¦ I remember her junior prom, she was determined to have a vintage dress I drove
her from one vintage thrift store to the next on the Saturday before. At our last
stop, there it was, waiting for her: a beautiful peach eyelet dress. She promptly painted shoes to match.

I love her deeply, enjoy her thoroughly and respect her immensely. One more thing¦ she calls me Bear. I’m not sure why, but I know it is a term of endearment and I love it. Sometimes, I call her Lil’ Bear. When she really needs a Mom, she calls me Mama.
