A Collection Most CuriousMay 2, 2014
Thanks to a Å“kooky-eccentric mother with a penchant for wild accessories, our director of styling, Richmond, was practically born to work in fashion. Today, we think of him as our in-house arbiter of high-style; a man who definitely knows his Birkins from his Balenciagas. As one might imagine given his pedigree, Richmond is an avid magpie of la mode, with a collection of 200 necklaces and growing! From modern pendants made of carved wood and indigo tassels to colorful strands of beaded animals and gold baubles, he is attracted to pieces that are bold, modern and oh-so offbeat.
Å“I fly all over the world for work and jewelry is the perfect travel keepsake. It takes up no space in your suitcase and will remind you of your exotic experience every time you wear it. I really like the spontaneity of collecting on my travels since you never quite know what you will find next.
Å“My most treasured necklaces are my trove of Walter Van Bierendonck beaded monster pendants. He makes them every season and I always try to buy at least one. They are completely original and amazing statement pieces!
Å“I can’t stop wearing necklaces designed by my good friend Matthew Addonnizio. They are deceptively simple organic pieces made of leather and wood but each bead has been painstakingly hand carvedÅ“I don’t have any of my mother’s heirloom necklaces- yet. But, she knows I have my eye on a few pieces from her coveted Bakelite collection!
