It’s 5-O’Clock Somewhere: Strawberry Margaritas

The pristine beaches, the sun-soaked vistas, the lively cities: After returning from our May catalog shoot, we find ourselves missing plenty about Mexico. But by the end of the workweek? Those margaritas are topping our wish-you-were-here list. Combining two of spring’s most essential ingredients “ that would be strawberries and tequila “ this twist on the classic gets its berry blush from a fresh fruit puree. Viva la margarita!


WHAT YOU’LL NEED2 oz. strawberry puree (see below)
2 oz. tequila
1 oz. Cointreau
2 tbsp. lime juice
Salt and lime slices for garnish


Strawberry puree
Combine one pound of hulled strawberries and the juice of two oranges in a blender. Blend until very smooth and strain through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Store in a tightly-lidded jar.

First, prepare your glassware (we went with our festiveFruit Wedge Tumblers): With a slice of lime, wet the rims and dip into a plate of salt; fill the glasses with ice. Then, in a cocktail shaker, combine the strawberry puree, tequila, Cointreau and lime juice. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into the salt-rimmed glasses and serve with lime wedges.
