It’s 5-O’Clock Somewhere: Garden Greyhound

July 19, 2013

Ok, ok, we get it. The zippy tang of grapefruit juice cuts through July’s fudgy humidity like none other. Add some vodka to that slurp, and you have just-what-the-bartender-ordered in combatting the oppressive heat. (Don’t overdo it, or you may, in fact, have yourself a headache.) Check out our herby spin on the Greyhound (aka, the Potted Dog).‚

For the simple syrup:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
4 fresh rosemary sprigs

For the cocktail:
2 oz vodka
4 oz pink grapefruit juice*
2 tablespoons rosemary simply syrup

To make the syrup, heat sugar, water and rosemary in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring as needed, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and let stand 30 minutes. Strain liquid into an airtight container, discarding rosemary sprigs. Chill for several hours.

To make the cocktail, combine vodka, juice and syrup into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. Shake well, strain into our Galleria Glass and garnish with a rosemary sprig.

*That’s about the juice of one large fruit, if you’re the freshly squeezed typewe certainly are.‚
