On the Road With Jessica Barensfeld + Gahaya LinksJune 26, 2013
For her latest collection of jewelry for Anthropologie, designer Jessica Barensfeld traveled all the way to Africa to collaborate with the artisans of Gahaya Links, a for-profit company that helps Rwandan women to translate traditional handicrafts into full-fledged, sustainable careers. It’s grown from just 20 women in the 1990s to a network of over 4,000 weavers across the country organized in 52 savings cooperatives.
Together with Barensfeld, the weavers of Gahaya Links created a stunning group of bead-embroidered pieces. Take a look at the snaps Barensfeld shared with us from her inspirational trip to Gahaya’s headquarters in Rwanda.
